AMD described the image as an “artistic render” and confirmed it won’t be releasing a reference version. So, if you were hoping to snag one that looks like the official tease, tough luck. Only AMD’s board partners will be offering the cards.
This marketing oddity comes ahead of the company’s Computex 2025 keynote, scheduled for 21 May at 11 a.m. Taipei time (20 May at 8 p.m. Pacific). The event is set to unveil several “key products,” with the RX 9060 XT likely front and centre.
There’s more in the pipeline too. AMD is expected to show off FSR 4, the latest iteration of its upscaling tech, tailored for RDNA 4 GPUs. Word is we’ll see new AMD-powered gaming handhelds and maybe even the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series, for those who like their processors meaty and multi-threaded.
Specs-wise, leaks suggest the RX 9060 XT will come in 8GB and 16GB variants using standard GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus, which isn’t thrilling. But it’ll apparently max out PCIe 5.0 with a full 16-lane interface, a move clearly aimed at sidestepping bottlenecks on PCIe 4.0 systems.
Pricing, performance and a firm launch date are still under wraps. But given the official teasing, it won’t be long before everyone gets the chance to see what AMD’s been cooking. Just don’t expect to get one in the box AMD’s showing off.
