Early days
Nvidia's
second batch of soon-to-be-available Fermi cards is expected in the first days of
May. This is what the company told to few of its launch partners.
As we said
before, Fermi should (we are not allowed to use "will" for Nvidia's announcement
ed.) start selling in the week of April 12th and few people have
told us that Nvidia plans to ship more finished Geforce
GTX 480 cards in the first week of May. Furthermore, some lucky ones will get chips to design their own GTX
470 cards and strap them with some custom designed coolers.
Overclocking
is possible and we might see overclocked cards at the launch or in May at the latest, but we doubt
that Nvidia will have enough Geforce GTX 480 and 470 cards even then.
ATI can
only be happy about it, as they should have enough supplies of the more attractively priced Radeon HD
5870 and 5850 cards, and let's not forget the Radeon HD 5970 X2 cards.
