AMD's next-gen UDNA GPU leaks

New GFX13 architecture sneaks into the spotlight

AMD’s next-gen GPU architecture has leaked all over the web, and it looks like the chipmaker is ready to ditch RDNA for something it is either calling UDNA or RDNA 5, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Kernel-level code dug up by Twitter leader @Kepler_L2, shows the upcoming silicon tagged as "GFX13."  The next big thing includes something called “Wavegroup”, which probably means stitching together multiple wavefronts or tidy little clusters of 32 or 64 threads.

Officially, AMD is keeping quiet, but unofficially, the leaks suggest UDNA will be their first proper "unified" GPU architecture, meaning it will appear in both discrete GPUs and inside next-gen CPUs. Unlike the RDNA 4 architecture, which is playing solo in discrete land, UDNA will apparently crash both parties.

Both the incoming Zen 6 CPUs and UDNA graphics kit are rumoured to use TSMC’s shiny N3E node, but do not hold your breath for UDNA iGPUs yet. Most Zen 6 chips are still expected to be dragging along RDNA 3.5 cores, just like Strix Point, Strix Halo, and Krackan Point.

AMD has decided to skip making any proper high-end RDNA 4 GPUs, so the first heavy-hitting silicon will now likely land with UDNA.

Word on the street says mass production for UDNA parts is pencilled in for the second quarter of 2026. Until then, expect AMD to pad out the RDNA 4 lineup with more RX 9000 series cards. Two are already out, and the RX 9060 XT is set to turn up at Computex, probably wearing a price tag nobody asked for.
